Dr. Lisa N. Tran, DDS, MD, FACS
Dr. Lisa N. Tran, a Southern California native from San Gabriel, grew up in a family of dentists, inspiring her passion for dentistry from an early age.
Dr. Tran earned her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry at Caltech in Pasadena where she was captain of the women’s basketball team and actively participated in research at the City of Hope and with Nobel laureate, David Baltimore. She pursued her Doctorate in Dental Surgery at UCLA School of Dentistry, where she discovered her passion for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Tran advanced her training by earning her Medical Degree at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, while completing a rigorous Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency. During her residency, she gained extensive expertise across multiple specialties, including anesthesia, trauma, critical care, plastic surgery, head and neck surgery, and pediatric surgery, further honing her skills through a General Surgery Internship. Her comprehensive training encompassed all facets of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, bone grafting, trauma care, TMJ surgery, reconstructive and orthognathic surgery, oral pathology, and hospital cases for medically compromised patients.
Passionate about innovation and improving patient outcomes, Dr. Tran conducted bone regeneration research at Georgia Tech during her residency, earning prestigious grants, numerous awards, and multiple publications.
Currently, Dr. Tran enjoys teaching Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at her alma mater, UCLA School of Dentistry. She is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds memberships with the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS), and Orange County Dental Society (OCDS).
Dr. Tran is involved in the community, serving as Oral Surgery Chair at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and contributing to patient care at St. Joseph Hospital and La Veta Surgical Center. She is also a distinguished Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
When she’s not practicing or teaching, Dr. Tran enjoys spending quality time with her family, cheering on the Lakers and UCLA sports teams, playing pickleball, and exploring delicious food.
